 Title:  Casting Down the Accuser
 by Jason Mitchener

Casting Down the Accuser

Revelation 12:10
“And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.”

One thing the devil likes to do best is accuse us. Like a prosecuting attorney, he comes before God the Almighty Judge and lays out his charges against us. If we were to hear all his charges against us, we might shrink in fear of coming judgment. This is exactly what the devil wants. He wants us to lose hope and give up the fight.

The devil not only accuses us before God, but he maliciously whispers his accusations in our own ears. He tells us we are not worthy. He says our history of sin will block us from entering the gates of heaven. He accuses us of hypocrisy and unfaithfulness.

If we believed all of the devil’s report, it would be so easy to stop trying to live the Christian life. If all these charges are true, why bother?

Christian, don’t listen to the devil! He is the father of lies. Listen to the one who is Truth incarnate. Turn your ears to the comforting voice of Jesus Christ!

The power of Christ is greater than anything the devil can throw at us. When the devil throws his fiery darts our way, we need to run into the protective arms of our Savior. When we submit ourselves to Christ and rely wholly upon his blood and righteousness, no force of hell can stand against us.

The devil may accuse us before God, but Christ lifts his voice as our advocate. Christ says, “Father, I agree that this child committed sins worthy of death. But because of my love, I paid his penalty for him on the cross. My blood cleansed him from all his sin. He has trusted in me and I will not betray that trust.”

The devil may accuse, but salvation comes through Christ. Trust in the Savior.
