How to Reign in Life
Saul, the first king of Israel was anointed by God to rule
over His people. God did not want His people to have a king, but because
the nation insisted on one God gave them what they wanted and instructed
His prophet Samuel to anoint Saul. That means the Spirit of the LORD was
upon Saul in order to enable him to rule the nation with godly wisdom and
in righteousness. The anointing with the Spirit of God was what qualified
Saul to be king. (1 Sam. 10)
But sadly Saul abused his position and used the anointing to try and establish
his own kingdom rather than rule God’s nation and guide them in His ways.
In doing so he lost the anointing and therefore his kingship. In 1 Samuel
15 we read of Saul disobeying God’s instruction given through the prophet
Samuel. He is confronted by Samuel and told that his disobedience to God
is actually rebellion against God which is as witchcraft, and his rebellion
had cost him his kingship. (23) Saul tries to save his skin by feigning
repentance, but the LORD who knows the heart is not taken in.
In verse
26 Samuel speaks out God’s judgement upon Saul; “For you have rejected the
Word of the LORD, and the LORD has rejected you from being king over Israel.”
That statement caught my attention. By disobeying the Word of God, Saul
was actually rejecting it. And in rejecting God’s Word, he lost his anointing
to be king. God literally rejected him from being king over His people.
How can that scripture be related to us – the New Covenant believers? Well,
we have also been anointed to be kings and priests unto God the Father.
(Rev.1:6) It is literally the Holy Spirit with whom we have been anointed.
(2 Cor.1:21-22) Is it possible for us to lose that anointing, and thus to
lose our ability to rule as kings over the circumstances of our lives? Yes
I believe that happens very often to us and we are not even aware of the
truth that our defeated lives are as a result of God rejecting our kingship.
In ignorance, (Hos.4:6) we unwittingly withdraw from the anointing which
is upon the Word. (John 6:63)
Why? Because we reject His Word. How? By being disobedient to it. Now that
is quite a statement to make but I believe it is true. When God’s Word
tells us not to fear, or be worried about anything as He cares for us and
will supply all our needs, (Phil.4:6 & 19) and we STILL lie awake at night
worrying, and wondering how we are going to survive financially, then we
are literally rejecting His Word by being disobedient to it in that situation.
When His Word tells us that we have been healed physically because Yahshua
(Jesus) took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses, (Mat.8:17 & 1 Pet.2:24)
and we persist in confessing the fact of our sickness instead of the truth
of our healing, (Heb.10:23) then again we are rejecting His Word in favour
of the circumstances.
Then we have tied the hands of Yahshua who is the
High Priest of our confession (Heb.3:1 & 4:14) and we will remain defeated
by our circumstances rather than ruling over them with the scepter of faith
in the Word of God. (1 Cor.1:5)
