Our War is Over - Part 2

“Comfort, yes, comfort My people!” Says your God. Speak comfort to Jerusalem, and cry out to her that her warfare is ended, That her iniquity is pardoned; For she has received from the LORD’s hand double for all her sins. (Isaiah 40:1-2)

Yes, according to the Word of God our war is over. The victory has been accomplished by our Lord. But there are still very real fights, which every individual believer has to go through on a daily basis. These are what Paul describes as the fights of faith. Make no mistake, faith is not easy because it is fought in the unseen spiritual realm.

In my own experience, my fight of faith was my struggle to choose between the contradictions of circumstances versus the Word of God. It is a very real fight because it is so much easier to capitulate to the circumstances which exist in the natural realm, than to stand on the Word of God and believe for those things which already exist in the spirit realm but are as yet unseen. To call those things which be not as though they were, (Rom.4:17) is to me one of the most difficult exercises in the faith walk. But this is the kind of faith which pleases God and honors Him. The secret is; never give up, no matter what the circumstances say. Be an overcomer (Rev.12:11) and continue to confess what the Word of God says about the situation in spite of the circumstances. Against hope, believe in hope as Abraham did, (Rom.4:18) and eventually that which you are hoping for will materialize. (Heb.11:1)

What then is faith? In essence it is the confession that comes out of the mouth. What a person says is what he believes, and therefore chooses. Yahshua said that what the heart was full of, the mouth will speak. (Mat.12:34) The choice is made by speaking what you choose. If you give your child the following choice; “What would you like for Christmas, a bicycle or a wrist watch”? He might answer, “A bicycle please!” His choice will be spoken words, which he believes, because he trusts your word. If you are true to your word, that is exactly what he will get. But until he indicates his choice through his words, he has not chosen. If he says nothing, then by default he has chosen nothing and he will get nothing. In the same way many of us don’t confess what we hope for, and by default do not receive.

The Bible says; Let us hold fast the profession (confession) of our faith without wavering; for He is faithful that promised. (Heb.10:23) Who are the “us” the Bible is talking about? That’s us!, believers in Yahshua – in His life, death and resurrection on our behalf. So I am not just talking about positive confession. No, we are to have faith in and confess Him, and with Him we freely get all things. (Rom.8:32) Outside of Yahshua we are and have absolutely nothing.

There are numerous examples in the Bible of Yahshua encouraging people who were in the middle of a faith battle. He would always say something like this; Fear not, only believe, or - According to your faith be it unto you. In this way He was motivating them to make the right choice by speaking the right words. Every time they confessed what they hoped for, they received there and then, exactly what they confessed.

Many of us make the mistake of giving up or losing hope. That is a grave mistake because faith is the substance of things hoped for -.(Heb.11:1) However, very often our faith is tested and what we believe or hope for does not manifest immediately. But never give up, hold firmly to the hope you confess, in other words; keep on confessing what you hope because we can trust God to keep His promise. (Heb.10:23 Good News) The war has already been won by Yahshua, the spoils of victory are already ours to enjoy, but remember, it is a fight of faith, so we are to hold on to the confession of our hope without wavering.

The moment we start confessing the circumstance in contradiction to the Word, we are in agreement with it and thus believe it to be the truth. Obviously then we become unbelievers in what the Word says about the situation. Through unbelief then we will not enter into God’s promised rest from that situation. We are to confess without wavering what we hope to be manifested in our lives, God’s promises of healing, health and abundance in every area of our lives. Believers should never confess the things, which are already part of their lives in the natural realm, which they don’t want, but in ignorance of God’s will, just accept from a defeated enemy.

I have come across many Christians who just accept without any resistance the packages of sickness, stress, poverty and defeat in many areas of their lives, as their cross from God. They believe that these packages are God’s will for them, and therefore just bear them and are eventually defeated by them. Sadly they are ignorant of the truth that the whole purpose of a loving God in sending His Son to this world, was for Him to destroy the works of the devil. (1 Joh. 3:8) Praise the Lord ! He accomplished His purpose successfully on behalf of all of us. Believe it and walk in that victory.
