Return the Word

Isaiah 55:11 So shall My Word be that goes forth out of My mouth, it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

In meditating upon this promise the Lord has revealed to me something so tremendously exciting that I just have to share it with you. I am convinced that the believer who will continually practice this principle, will surely be successful in his spiritual life and will be changed into the likeness of Yahshua (Jesus).

In the above scripture God tells us the purpose of His Word - why He spoke it. But first we must understand that God always spoke through His anointed prophets. (2 Pet.1:21) The Word that God spoke through the prophets was then written down, and now we have the written Word of God – the Scriptures. (that which was scripted)

Yahshua (Jesus), the Word of God who became flesh (John 1:14) made much of the Scriptures. (Mat.4:4, Luke 24:27 & 32) His whole earthly walk was based on the written Word of God. We are told to be followers or imitators of God (Eph.5:1) and I believe that imitating Yahshua in the way He used the Scriptures is vital for the child of God who wants to prosper in his walk with the Lord.

So shall My Word be - . In saying this the LORD wants to impress upon us that His Word has purpose. So shall it be! No maybe’s. It shall definitely be so. He never spoke just for the sake of speaking. Every single word He uttered has purpose. He specifically spoke or sent out His Word in order for it to accomplish His pleasure. It prospers in the purpose for which it was sent out. God says that when it returns to Him it does not come back void or empty handed. When it returns to Him it has accomplished its purpose.

But in order for it to do so, it must be returned to Him. He sends it out, but how is it returned to Him? Firstly it has to be heard, secondly believed and thirdly spoken out in faith. These three steps are all essential, but speaking it is absolutely vital. It is the confession, in faith, of the Word God spoke, which closes the circuit and accomplishes the Word’s purpose as it is returned to Him. (Heb.10:23) It is the calling upon Him in response to His sent Word, which brings Yahshua the High Priest of our confession on the scene. (See Rom.10:13-17 & Heb.3:1)

When Mary heard the Word that she was chosen to give birth to the Savior, she responded in faith by saying; Be it unto me according to Your Word. (Lk.1:38) I believe that was the moment of conception. At that instant the living Word (Yahshua) became flesh in the womb of Mary, for that was the moment God’s Word spoken many years previously by the prophet Isaiah was returned to Him accomplishing its purpose. Behold , a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Emmanuel. (Is.7:14)

Reading through Psalm 119 we can see that the psalmist was well practiced in returning God’s Word to Him. David continually practiced this principle. A good example is found in 2 Samuel 7. God tells the prophet Nathan; Now therefore so shall you say unto My servant David, Thus says the Lord of hosts – Then He proceeds to send out His Word of blessing to David, his house or family and his kingdom. (8-17) As soon as David receives this Word from the Lord through Nathan, he goes into the presence of the Lord (v.18) and pours out his heart in prayer. Firstly he humbles himself before the Lord (v.19-21) and then exalts and glorifies Him. (v.22-24) The rest of his prayer is used to return the Word which God had sent back to Him.

And now, O LORD God, the Word that You have spoken concerning Your servant, and concerning his house, establish it forever, and do as You have said. And let Your name be magnified for ever, saying, The LORD of hosts is the God over Israel; and let the house of Your servant David be established before You. (v.25-26)

And now, O Lord God, You are that God, and Your Words are true, and You have promised this goodness unto Your servant. Therefore now let it please You to bless the house of Your servant, that it may continue forever before You; for You O Lord God, have spoken it: and with Your blessing let the house of Your servant be blessed forever. (v.28-29)

In this prayer, David is literally taking the Word God had sent to him, and speaks it back to God in faith. With his own words he establishes what God had spoken concerning him. Believers need to learn this principle of returning God’s Word to Him. To literally return God’s Word to Him by speaking it out in faith is very seldom taught, therefore believers have never really been specific and serious about taking a promise from the Word and returning it to Him by speaking it out in faith. More often than not we have just taken these promises for granted and have not returned them to the Lord. Therefore the circuit is not completed and the Word is not returned to God and does not therefore accomplish that for which it was sent out. I believe that lack of knowledge in this regard is one reason why so many Christians suffer lack in so many areas of their lives.

When I read a scripture such as Phil.4:19, it will accomplish nothing in my life until I respond in faith by sending it back to Him with words such as; Thank you Lord, I know that You will supply all my needs according to Your riches in glory by the Anointed Yahshua, therefore Lord do what You have spoken concerning me, Your child. I thank You and glorify You for it. Then only does that specific Word sent out by God, prosper in the thing whereto He sent it in my life.

Romans 12:1 & 2. Lord, I present my body a living, holy sacrifice to You. I know that this is a sacrifice accepted by You for You have spoken it. I am not conformed to this world Father, because I am being transformed in my thought life, my emotions and my will by Your living Word. For that reason I thank You that I will experience Your good and perfect will in every area of my life. How wonderful to be able to return God’s Word to Him in this way and thus to establish His good plan in our lives.

1 Cor.6:19-20. My body is inhabited by Your Holy Spirit, Father, and I do not belong to myself. I am wholly Yours, for You paid a tremendous price to obtain this property. For that reason Father, I will always glorify You with my whole being – spirit, soul and body.

Rom. 8:11 & Ps.91:16, 103:3-5 Thank you also that because of Your indwelling presence, every cell in my body is saturated with and being renewed moment by moment by You. Sickness and disease dies the instant they touch my body, and even the effects of old age are negligible for according to Your Word my youth is renewed like the eagle’s. I am satisfied with Your good Words with which I fill my heart and speak out of my mouth.

This practice can be followed for all the promises in God’s Word. Personalize every one you come across, speak it out in faith and revolutionize your relationship with Yahshua and Father through His eternal Word.
