The Essential Diet for Every Family
The Word in the Home:
These Words which I command you today shall be in your heart;
you shall teach them diligently to your children,
and shall talk of them
when you sit in your house,
when you walk by the way,
when you lie down,
and when you rise up.
You shall bind them as a sign on your hand,
and
they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.
You shall write them on the
door posts of your house and on your gates. (Deut.6:6-9)
God expects His people to have His Word in their hearts. Actually it is
much stronger than just expectation, He commands that His Words shall be
in their hearts. Why? So that they can be taught diligently to their children
in order for His words to be imprinted on their hearts as well, so that
the whole family can discuss, assimilate and eat the Words of God which
are spirit and life, (John 6:63) in all their daily activities. Why is this
so important? Because the Word is God and God is the Word, and if the living
Word is in the heart, then God is in the heart. (John 1:1)
Why is God so serious about His Word? Why does He not rather encourage us
to work on our relationship with Him? He does, but without a two-way communication,
any relationship is destined to failure. If either my wife or I stopped
communicating with words, it would not be long before there would be no
relationship between us. If we continued to communicate with words, but
one of us stopped our ears and refused to hear what the other was saying,
there would not be a relationship. There couldn’t be one because the essence
of any relationship is communication.
I believe most strongly that there
can be no relationship between God and Man without His Word. Firstly we
would know absolutely nothing about God if He did not reveal Himself to
us through His Word. Secondly we could never know Him personally without
the Word. If you are a child of God, it is because the Seed of the Word
was planted in your heart by the Holy Spirit, conception took place and
you were birthed into the Kingdom of God. (1 Peter 1:23) The beginning of
your relationship with the Father was when He spoke into your life, and
the Word became flesh in you. That relationship can only grow to the extent
that you learn to speak to Him in the language of the Kingdom of God, which
is the Word of God.
Yahshua (Jesus’ real Name) said; It is written; Man shall not live by bread
alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. (Mat.4:4)
More important than food for the physical body, is food for the spirit.
According to Yahshua, the Living Word, this food, which gives spiritual
life is the written Word – the Scriptures. A daily diet of the Word will
produce a vibrant and healthy spirit, full of faith and the joy of YAHWEH,
which cannot but result in an ever growing relationship with Him.
Thy
Words were found, and I did eat them;
And Thy Word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of my heart;
For I am called by Thy Name,
O YAHWEH God of hosts. (Jer.15:16)
