The Word of Christ

I was just thinking about you (my readers) this morning and praying that God will (and it is His will) bless you in every area of your life, spiritually, physically, mentally, socially, materially etc. There is no doubt that Father is intensely interested in your whole being. (1 Thes.5:23-24)

Col.3:16 commands; "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom -" The born again believer has Christ dwelling in him, and Yahshua (Jesus) is the Word who became flesh, (John 1:14) but this verse is a command to let the Word of Christ dwell in us richly. What is the Word of Christ? The word ‘Christ’ is a transliteration of the Greek word ‘Kristos’ which in turn is a translation of the Hebrew word ‘Massiach’ (Messiah) meaning ‘the Anointed One’.

Yahshua is the Messiah – the Anointed One, because He had the Spirit (Anointing) of God without measure. Although Yahshua is the Word of God, it was the Holy Spirit who inspired the prophets of old to put the Word of God into written form. (2 Pet.1:21) Therefore the Scriptures are the anointed words of God. What then is the Word of Christ which we are commanded to have in our hearts richly? It is the written Word of God, the Bible. We are commanded to let the Scriptures dwell in us richly in all wisdom. We have to make an effort to put it into our hearts by memorizing it. Only then can we meditate upon it day and night. (Ps.1:2)

Yahshua who is our example had the written Word dwelling in His heart. He had memorized it as a young boy, and when He needed it He used it as the Sword of the Spirit (Eph.6:17) to fend off the enemy. Remember when He was tempted in the wilderness He always said; "It is written !" and then proceeded to quote the written Scriptures which He had memorized. It is interesting that the first Scripture He quotes deals with this very subject of the written Word. "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word that proceeds out of the mouth of God." (Mat.4:4 & Deut. 8:3)

So, I want to encourage you to hide God's Word in your heart, (Psm.119:11) so that the Holy Spirit will be able to remind you of everything Yahshua said. (Joh.14:23-26) The Lord has been dealing with me lately concerning how absolutely vital it is for believers today to get serious about God and His Word which is forever settled in heaven. (Ps.119:89)

I have personally decided to give Him and His Word first place in my life from now on, and I want to encourage you to do the same. In doing this you will be transformed into the likeness of our Lord and Savior daily. God bless you richly.
