FAITHFUL
With the upcoming move, and the expenses related to it, things have been
feeling a little squeezed in the finance department lately. Kathy and I
spent some time in prayer yesterday, trusting in God, but confessing that
we were a touch worried about the timing of things.
Not particularly super-spiritual to be a little concerned, but a natural
human response. We had a sense of peace after the prayer and I felt Him
telling us to just trust.
A fellow came by to look at the boat I cleaned yesterday. While he was looking,
the surveyor who was surveying our lot realized that the boat was for sale
and stopped to look as well.
While the first fellow was looking at the boat in detail, the surveyor called
me aside and told me “If he doesn’t take it, I will.”
The first visitor bought the boat at the full
asking price, with no haggling. I had two solid buyers for it, and I hadn’t
even advertised it for sale yet.
God was simply reminding me that He had things under control. Without any
marketing effort on my part, He provide more buyers than I had boats and
at the full price I needed. Once again, God proves Himself faithful in incredible
ways.
That is the way He is. Sometimes we don’t get
the answers we want to prayer, although He
always answers. He is always faithful to our
needs (not necessarily to our wants, because our wants may not be good for
us).
I’m not proclaiming a gospel of material
prosperity. Sometimes it is in the best
interests of ourselves or others that we do
without, and we need to trust Him to know when that is. It just happens
that on this occasion He chose to prove His faithfulness using finances.
From the beginning of Scripture to the present day (and beyond), His faithfulness
stands as a testimony to His existence and power.
When ever we waiver or doubt, we simply need to turn to the pages of Scripture
to see His
unwaivering faithfulness. He always comes
through at the perfect time. He always will,
because He is unchanging.
Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God,
keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love
him and keep his commands.
Deuteronomy 7:9 NIV
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Hebrews 13:8 NIV
Until next time, know that no matter what you
are facing, He is in control and is faithful.
God bless.
