New Beginnings
Encountering an extraordinary God in ordinary life
Issue # 274
New Beginnings
Life is full of fresh starts and new beginnings.
Some beginnings are huge
events. Marriage, birth, career changes, children leaving home. Others are
small, like simply getting up in the morning to face the day, although if
you’re not a morning person, it can seem like a huge event.
Every time we make a decision, big or small, it represents a new beginning.
We can begin a path that honours God and draws us closer, or dishonours
Him and pulls us farther away.
Simple decisions such as what we watch on television, or if we will act
on a temptation or not, can actually be the beginning of dangerous paths
for us.
Fortunately, Christ has made new beginnings possible for us. When we turn
our eyes and hearts to Him, it is the beginning of, or return to, a path
of holiness.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone,
the new has come! 2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,
because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from
the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do in that it
was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending his own Son in the
likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in
sinful man, in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be
fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according
to the Spirit.
Romans 8:1-4 NIV
Until next time, may all your beginnings lead you closer to Jesus and the
freedom that He offers.
God bless.
Kevin
If you have never made that first step towards Jesus, today is the time
to take it. Email me and I’ll share a few Bible verses that explain why
a relationship with Him is needed and a prayer that will make it possible.
It doesn’t matter how far you have gone down the path of life, choosing
Him will be a new beginning and a fresh start.
