My Tattered Heart
Oh tis’ a story I can tell.
A story I remember well.
How my heart has raged a war.
With tares and tatters more and more.
A lost love here, a lost love there,
A friend to say I no longer care.
Oh such pain my heart was dealt,
And oh such sorrow my heart felt.
But then one day the master’s touch,
Soothed the pain that hurt so much.
He mended tatters, and sowed the rips,
And soothed with words from precious lips.
He gave me love to fill the void,
And painted trust, where it was destroyed.
And this once heart tattered, tore to shreds,
Was given life, is no longer dead.
And so I’ve found a lasting love,
From my master up above.
A friend that will always be near,
And a hand to dry my tears.
I can’t begin to say to you,
Just how much he has brought me through.
He’s loved me from the very start,
And mended, and soothed my tattered heart.
