Self Worth
Have you ever taken a good long hard look in
the mirror and asked yourself
just who was
staring back at you? If you are in the
middle of an abuse
situation or if you are
struggling with an addiction, you most
likely
feel like you don't recognize that
person who is hiding in the mirrored
glass.
What is the reason you feel so bad about
yourself? You have to
be willing to take a
look back to be able to take a couple steps
forward,
Lets take a look.
Have you had someone in your past who has
worked hard at knocking down
your self
esteem or your physical self? Have you
gotten yourself involved
in an addiction
that you just cant seem to get away from?
Have you done something in your past that
you haven't forgiven yourself
for? Has
someone done something to you that you
haven't been able to
forgive or forget?
Maybe you have some old friends or even new
friends that seem to enjoy
taking you down
with them. Take a long hard look at who
your companions
are. If your friends are
more concerned with hurting you emotionally,
send them out of your life.
Do you have a Daily Quiet Time with the
Lord? When was the last time you
found hope
in God's word or His almighty presence? Do
you feel like maybe
you aren't good enough to
be in God's presence?
Have you given up prayer?
Maybe you don't
feel like you are worthy to pray. God so
wants to spend
time with you.
If you have accepted Christ as your Savior
and Lord,
Then you are good enough, God
doesn't hold your past against you and
believe it or not, He loves you even when
you still sin in your life.
When you were
forgiven, He really forgave you. He forgave
you for the
past, the present and the future.
I urge you to set aside some time that you
can read God's word, pray and
seek His
presence. God will reward you for this and
before long, if
you believe what His word
says, you will start to feel better
about
yourself.
Find yourself a church home.
If you aren't
interested in trying out the
churches
everyone else goes to, Check out some of the
other smaller
churches in your area. Being a
part of a church family, can be an important
part of finding some solidarity to your
faith.
Take a look around you and you might just
find someone who needs your
friendship,
maybe if you give alittle bit in your life,,
Someone will
give alittle bit of theirs to
you.
I know its hard to do some of the things Ive
mentioned but they are important
steps in
rebuilding your self esteem, and last but
not least if you
don't love yourself enough
to take care of you, no one else
will.
Til next time.
