Title: STOP! And Spend Time With God! Part Three
by Michael Isaacks

Choosing What Is Better
Doers take their part and do their share in
the ministries of the church,
some to the
point that they spend more time at church
than at home with their family. Sitters show up at church and do just that:
sit in the pew ( or chair ) and do nothing to help the church.
Getting
back to my story, A few years ago when my wife and I first got married ,
I was at church every night of the week. Prayer Team on Monday, Evangelism
Training on Tuesday, Church on Wednesday,Choir Practice on Thursday, Men's
Meeting on Friday, Nursing Home Service on Saturday. What was my reward
for all these works? An irritated, neglected and unhappy family and a case
of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
For those who are unfamiliar with Chronic
Fatigue Syndrome, it causes its
victim to
be extremely tired all the time, no matter how much sleep they
get. Was God impressed by all these works? No! Was the church impressed?
No! Was my family impressed? No! Was my community impressed? No! Please
understand. I am not saying that you should not take part of a ministry
in the church because we all have a part to play. I'm just saying don't
go ridiculously overboard with it!
In Luke chapter 10, the latter part of the chapter, Martha invited Jesus
to have dinner in her home. When the day came, Jesus was speaking inside
Martha's home and her sister Mary was sitting at His feet, soaking in every
Word He said.Martha, overly busy preparing the meal, went to Jesus and asked
Him; " Jesus! Don't You care that Mary has left me to do all the work? Tell
her to get up off it and help me! " Jesus replied; " Mary has chosen what
is better and it will not be taken away. "
