STOP! And Spend Time With God! Part Five
Your End Is God's Beginning
Before " Covenant Talk ", I typed another daily devotional I refer to as
" The Daily Bondage ". Why do I call it such? Because
of the limitations
I put on myself and the Holy Ghost in it. The format was in this way: I
would choose 4 Bible scriptures, one from the Old Testament, one from the
New Testament, one from Psalms and one from Proverbs that all had to come
from the chapter that represented that day's date. ( If I were printing
one today, they would all have to come from the 20th chapter. ) And, all
the scriptures had to be talking about the same thing! And the " Thought
of the Day " and the " Prayer of the Day " also had to match the chosen
scriptures!Talk about yokes, bondage and limitations! It would sometimes
take 3 hours to type up one paper because of this! And on top of this, the
one person who received this would end up in an argument every day with
me over something printed on it. And the first 7 months or so that I printed
this, every paper dealt with the same thing: SIN. It offered no hope, no
encouragement, no help to get out of sin, just the consequences of sin and
what God would do to you if you got into it.
This was not what God intended
for me to write. He did have plans for me to write a daily devotional, but
not one that beat you upside the head every day!
The 2 to 3 hours I spent each day preparing " The Daily Bondage " would
be spent in frustration, trying to fit the mold and format I had set for
myself. I couldn't hear God's voice if He were to speak to me back then!
Jesus said " My yoke is easy and My burden is light. " ( Matt. 11:29 - 20
) Jesus does not want our life in Him to be complicated.Don't let the devil
make it that way!
On Friday, 28 October, 1998, I had had enough. The devil stirred up yet another
argument and I said; " That's it! I'll never type another daily paper again!
" That is what God was waiting for. See, when I stopped typing the daily
paper, God started typing it ( not literally of course! ) .That night after
I typed the final issue of the first daily paper, vowing to never type another
daily paper again, God, in a vision, very plainly showed me a vision of
" Covenant Talk ". I didn't know what I was going to name it at the time,
but I knew how I was going to lay it out, and it looks very similar today
to what it did in that vision. The only differences between today and the
first year of " Covenant Talk " are that I used different fonts for the
logo and title and the picture of the three crosses did not appear during
the first year and a half. Also, instead of running scriptures for " Read
the Bible Through In One Year" , I would instead pick a daily scripture
from Psalms and Proverbs - ( which of course had to correspond with that
day's date! ) - About a year and a half into it, God told me to make the
changes you see today.
Before I continue, allow me to say that I am NOT
bragging on myself for what I am about to share.
I am instead bragging
on God. When the first
issue of " Covenant Talk " came out, it still only
went out to that one person and yes, the arguments continued. I would let
these arguments get to me immensely, and wind up letting the devil turn
me into a yelling, raving maniac, full of rage.
Thank God that He brought me out of that!
