Covenant Talk Why Cut Covenant?

So , Why do people cut covenant?

1. For preservation
2. For business reasons
3. Because they love one another

David and Jonathon made a covenant together because they loved one another. Let's look at it in 1 Samuel 20:16 - 17:

" So Jonathon made a covenant with the house of David , saying; Let the Lord require it at the hand of David's enemies. ' And Jonathon caused David to swear again , because he loved him; for he loved him as he loved his own soul. "

So now that we know why people cut covenant , let's begin to look at how to cut a covenant. Today , we will begin to look at 8 steps in cutting a Blood Covenant.

8 STEPS IN CUTTING A BLOOD COVENANT ( Part 1 )

1. The Exchange of Garments ( What is mine is yours , and what is yours is mine ) " Then Jonathon stripped himself of the robe that was upon him , and gave it to David, and his garments, even to his sword , and to his bow , and to his girdle." ( 1 Samuel 18:4 )

2. The Exchange of Weapons ( I will defend you even unto death ) " ….. Even unto his sword …… " ( 1 Samuel 18:4 )

3. The Exchange of Names ( Two become one ) " ( God speaking to Abram ) As for Me , behold My covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations. Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram , but thy name shall be called Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee. " ( Genesis 17:4 - 5 )
Abram meant " Father of Altitude " or " Exalted Father. "
Abraham meant " Father of Multitudes."
And remember , as a child of God , you are the seed of Abraham!
