Celebrate Freedom
It's the fourth of July. A day we set aside
to celebrate our freedom and independence.
Every American knows the freedom
and
independence he or she has. But does
every Christian know the freedom
he
or she has? Let's take a look at some
of the freedoms we, the children
of God
have in Him:
1. Freedom From Death:
" For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life
through
Jesus Christ our Lord. " ( Romans 6:23 )
" As far as the east is from the west, so far hath He removed
our transgressions
from us. " ( Psalms 103:12 )
2. Freedom From Sickness:
" Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being
dead to sins,
should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. ( 1 Peter
2:24 )
" He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions."
( Psalms 107:20 )
3. Freedom From Poverty:
" For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich,
yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be
rich."
( 2 Corinthians 8:9 )
" I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more
abundantly."
( John 10:10b )
4. Freedom From Fear:
" Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God:
I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; " ( Isaiah 41:10 )
So how do we obtain this freedom? Let's close with John 8:31 - 32 :
" Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in
my word,
then are ye my disciples indeed;
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. "
