The Double Minded Man
" A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. "
( James 1:8 )
What does James mean when he says " a double minded man is unstable in all
his
ways "? One thing is an issue we have already talked about. When a " Christian
"
is around his Christian friends, it's " Praise the Lord! Thank You Jesus!
" When he's around unbelievers, it's dirty jokes, profanity and filthy conversation.
Another thing is when the heat gets turned up, the double minded man goes
running to God; " Help me, God, Help me! "But God hasn't heard from him
in months, so He says; " Huh? Who are you? Oh yeah, Bob. Where you been?
I haven't heard from you in a long time! What? Help you out of what? Why
didn't you ask Me about that before you got into this mess? Too busy, huh?
Having too much fun, huh? You want an answer? Look it up! It's in My Word.
Where is it, you say? It's over there on that book shelf. Take a feather
duster,
you're gonna need it! Oh, where is it in the book? You think I'm gonna do
all the work for you? "
What happened? He hadn't talked to God in so long
He had to think a minute to remember who he was. Have you ever done that?
Somebody you knew from a long time ago comes up and begins to talk to you
and you can't remember their name to save
your life! But, what's another word for " double minded " ?
How about " lukewarm " ? What does Jesus have to say about this? We'll see
