Title: Drinking Wine: What Does The Bible Say? Part 2
by Michael Isaacks
Is Drinking Okay?
2. The Greek word ochoa which is
the Greek word
for ears and is translated " the organ of hearing. "
3. The Greek word kenfo, which is the Greek word for itching,
" to be tickled, or having an itch to hear something
that is pleasing. "
Paul went on to tell Timothy in 2 Timothy 4:4 that
people would " turn away their ears from the
truth, and shall be turned
unto fables. "
The Greek word used there for fables
is muthos, which is the word we get
our English word for mythology and
is
translated " the logics and reasonings
of man which are set up against
the
standard of truth. "
80% of the body of Christ think it's alright
to drink. But, what does God
think?
let's begin our exploration into this
subject in Proverbs 20:1
:
Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby
is not wise.
Now, let's continue…..
Be not among winebibbers; among riotous eaters of flesh:
For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty: and drowsiness shall
clothe a man with rags.
( Proverbs 23:20 - 21 )
And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
( Ephesians 5:18 )
Next time, we will address the eternal question: " Should preachers drink? "
