 Title:  Finances 11
 by Dennis Reschke

Finances 11

"And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work" (2 Cor 9:8). We should have a desire to give financially, but if you are strapped into your budget, what we need is not more money. What we need is a spiritual breakthrough, a revelation. [Jesus said, "Then opened He their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures" (Lk 24:45)]. The Word of God can shatter the images of poverty and lack we have within us. We must replace them with a vision of the sufficiency of God. Then more things, including money, will come.

How? By spending time meditating on the God's promises of prosperity in His Word. Think on them, believing you receive those promises actually being fulfilled in your life, acting as though the Bible is really true!

Start seeing yourself being a generous giver to people in need. In your mind, see yourself as a giver instead of the one who is always in need. Each time you do, the promise of God will become more real to you and your faith will grow.

"Surely you're not saying I should use my imagination! That's just positive thinking". There are at least three components in this process: imagination, faith, and the promises of God. Yes, we should use our imagination. God gave it to us to use for this purpose. Imagination alone, however, will become worldly and bind us instead of feeding our faith. The human spirit, by itself, has a component of faith. Have you ever heard of someone saying, "When I'm thirty I'll be a millionaire". And sure enough by 29 their a millionaire. How did they do that? Well, if it was an unbeliever, he say himself as a millionaire and believed in himself and the system to materialize the vision. That's faith. Faith, by definition, is a substance, or reality, that is incorporeal (Heb 11:1). This man probably has a gift for finances. Without the influence of the Holy Spirit, the gifts of God will turn into greed and lust, etc. The difference between positive thinking and this is the supernatural promises of God. God WANTS us to prosper. Why? so we can establish His covenant and give to the poor. God would not promise something without a will to perform it. Inherent in the idea of promise is the desire and power to carry it out.

Sometimes creating such new images of hope are tough, especially when there are old images of doubt blocking the way. If you've been broke, for instance, all or most all of your life, it may take a while for you to see yourself prospering in God. But you can do it if you stay in the Word. Just keep meditating the Word of God. Eventually you'll be transformed by the renewing of your mind. When that happens, financial failures will never be able to stop you again.
