Title: Finances 17

Finances 17
3 Jn 1-4: "The elder to the well beloved Gaius, whom I love
in the truth. Beloved, I wish (pray) above all things that you may prosper
and be in health, even as your soul prospers. For I rejoiced greatly, when
the brothers came and testified of the truth that is in you, even as you
walk in the truth. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk
in truth". Combining this with Jn 17:17, that says "My Word is truth", one
can read this: "Beloved, I wish (pray) above all things that you may prosper
and be in health, even as your soul prospers. For I rejoiced greatly, when
the brothers came and testified of the the Word of God that is in you, even
as you walk in the Word. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children
walk in the Word of God". (I'm not suggesting changing the Word of God,
but for teaching purposes, making this substitution to make a point). It's
going to take the Word of God to prosper. The amount of rhema Word of God
acted on in ones life, I believe, is directly proportional to ones prosperity.
Verse 11 "Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good.
He that does good is of God: but he that does evil has not seen God". What
is good and evil as far as prosperity is concerned? Some say to prosper
financially is bad and to be poor is holy. Money is not the root of all
evil! the love of it is (1Tim 6:10). How could he say follow after prosperity
if it was evil? Verse 11 says don't follow evil. This was penned by the
apostle John at the end of his life. I dare say the Spirit in him knew what
He was talking about. It is God's will for us to prosper. (Why? so we can
give to the poor and establish His covenant on the earth (Deut 8:18, Eph
4:28)).
The soul of man cannot prosper with out the Word in it, and it says here
that prosperity of the pocket book cannot exceed the prosperity of your
soul. You will never rise spiritually above the extent to which your mind
is renewed. Man is a spirit, he has a soul, and he lives in a body. There
is prosperity of the spirit, there is prosperity of the mind and soul, and
there is prosperity of the body. A fear controlled mind is not prosperous.
2 Cor 10:4,5 talks about casting down imaginations or thoughts that exalt
themselves against the knowledge of God. This is a description of a prosperous
man. He has control of his mind. Don't let your mind think whatever it wills.
Take control of it and tell it what to think! A man who is prospering mentally
has control over his mind. You cannot control your mind without the Word.
