Dennis Dr. D's Devotional
 Title:  Finances 2
 by Dennis Reschke

Since we are the ones who must choose (Deut 30:19; God won't chose for you), we must know what the Word calls prosperity. We've got to know if it's a blessing or curse, else how can we make a proper choice between them. People do not become prosperous by accident. They become financially prosperous because of the choices they make. We need to choose the things of God that cause prosperity. There is the world's way of prospering, which is satan's because he is the god of this world (2Cor 4:4). We have power or authority over satan. Jesus said that all power was given to Him both in heaven and earth. He stripped satan of what authority he had. The power and authority satan enjoys today is stolen from us. We give him authority by our actions and words. We are instructed to take the stolen authority away from the devil in the world.

The wicked do prosper in the world but it is a counterfeit of God's true prosperity. Jesus said there are those who are rich but not to God (Luke 12:21). There is a difference between being rich in the earth and rich in the world system. The earth will make you rich. The earth will also withhold from you because it is waiting for the manifestation of the sons of God (Rom 8:19). There is still much power and wealth in the earth untapped. The curse of the Law: Deut. 28:15-17 "But it shall come to pass, if you will not listen to the voice of the LORD your God, to observe to do all His commandments and His statutes which I command you this day; that all these curses shall come upon you, and overtake you. Cursed shall you be in the city, and cursed shall you be in the field. Cursed shall be your basket and your store". This is directly related to material prosperity. God is saying here that poverty, or lack of prosperity, is a curse. Verse 18, "Cursed shall be the fruit of your body, and the fruit of your land, the increase of your cattle, and the flocks of your sheep" Fruit here means increase. Fruit is not part of the tree, it is produced by the tree. Children are fruit of the body, not part of the body that bore it. God is implying here that material assets is fruit. v.20 "The LORD shall send upon you cursing, vexation, and rebuke, in all that you set your hand to do, until you are destroyed, and until you perish quickly; because of the wickedness of your doings, whereby you have forsaken Me." The Lord had nothing to do with this directly. God delegates authority. The ones who have responsibility for this (us) have the authority to carry it out by faith in His Covenant. "Well, God is allowing the devil to come in there". No, God doesn't have anything to do with the devil. He is not protecting you from the devil. As far as God is concerned satan is marked out and defeated. He has given US authority over the devil. God backs us up with His power, but we must act first, since He has already acted. The ball is in our court.
