Title: Finances 20

Finances 20
3 John 2 - "I wish above all things that you prosper and be
in health"; v.4" ... I have no greater joy than to hear my children walk
in the truth.". These two statements can be put together like this: God
has no greater joy than to see you prosper and be in health. How can this
be? because you can't prosper without the Word, or the truth (John 17:17)
that sets us free from lack (Ps 23:1, John 8:32). This is to us, not just
those the apostle John was speaking to when he wrote it. If this were not
the case, we'd have to throw out all the epistles because they were all
letters written to people long since dead.
What is prosperity in light of the Word of God? not just mentally, not just
physically, or in just the spiritual realm. It is God's will that we may
be made whole spirit, soul, and body, and to be kept this way until the
return of Jesus Christ. 1Thes 5:23 "And the very God of peace sanctify you
wholly (completely); and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body
be preserved blameless to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ". So we cannot
be lazy and not prosper. Just because you are born again and maybe filled
with the Holy Ghost doesn't mean we can afford to stop at just having our
own needs met. 1Cor. 10:24 "Let no man seek his own, but every man another's
wealth". We don't have to send worn out clothes to Mexico, we can pray in
some news ones. Grasp the attitude here.
What is the world's definition
of prosperity? Of the senses it includes gold, silver, financial and political
favor, and power. Prosperity of the mind includes intellect, wit, humor,
control and power. Put these two together and you have someone that can
manipulate his situation, to control his environment and those around him.
In the realm of real prosperity, gold and silver cannot solve every problem:
it cant' buy you health in all cases. Every time you ask the world about
something they tell you why you can't, when you can't, and how it will kill
you if you do. Failures are not God made. Everything He ever made is perfect.
He didn't make Adam or the devil fall; neither did he send the devil to
tempt Adam. Any failures to prosper is a failure on our part to grasp the
grace of God. "Well, doesn't the Scripture say, "Prov. 13:7 "There is (he)
that makes himself rich, yet has nothing: there is (he) that makes himself
poor, yet has great riches." This is speaking of an attitude behind being
materially rich and non-material richness. We can be rich materially and
bless others with that wealth - to be a "pay-master" in the kingdom. Jesus
was ministered to in this way by many of the women that followed Him (Lk
8:3).
