Title: Finances 23

Finances 23
All the way through the Bible, God met the physical needs of
people. Every time there was a need, God had a man that could meet the need.
For Israel He had Moses, for the world, He had Jesus, for Ephesus there
was Paul. If we are in need, God has a man to meet your need. Warning! Do
a motive check: why do you think this is a need? is it really a need or
is it a want? why do you need it? No one can answer those questions but
you and God. So, assuming our motives are pure, we can pray, "Father, somewhere
out there there is a man that has the power to meet my needs; You know where
the $100 is that I need by Friday. Show him to me." Remember the disciples
asking Jesus about the Last Supper preparations? Jesus told them about the
man with the pitcher who would help them. That was their man. Eventually
we want to pray, "God, make ME the man that meets the needs of the people!"
Deut 8:18 "But you shall remember the LORD your God: for it is He that gives
you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore
to your fathers, as it is this day". The phrase power to get wealth, here,
can be broadened to abilities. We should never come to the place of being
puffed up because of our great mental abilities, or our business acumen,
or great charisma. Everything we got came from heaven (Jn 19:11, Jn 3:27).
Life is a gift (1 Pet 3:7, NIV). We didn't earn it.
What is rich? $100K is a lot to me but pocket change to another. God says
to be wealthy (God is the standard) is an abundance that there's no way
you can see how to use it all (This is what "abundantly" means in Jn 10:10).
Start banking in heaven's accounting instead of the earths'. There's more
than enough available for any of us to use all of it. God can make any man
or woman richer than he or she can possibly use in a life time, simultaneously,
and never dip into His reserves. God is capable. He slipped Solomon so much
he couldn't count it all. They had silver dunes in his backyard that no
one bothered counting. God's prosperity is meeting the needs of everyone
on the planet. Now read the 18th verse again. This same sentiment is expressed
many other places in scripture: "It is God that gives you the power to get
wealth". But this is the only place He says why: to establish His covenant,
to establish His word, in Jesus, Who is the Word. This puts His Word as
a greater source of wealth than material things. We mustn't get so super
spiritual that we despise material wealth, because it says right here that
without it the covenant can't be established.
