Finances 30

Joshua (80 years old now; stood 40 yrs on the promise) had to take over for Moses. He he had to deal with 2 million stubborn Jews. God had a problem: He had to establish His covenant to bring Jesus into the earth (Gen 3:15). God's advice in this situation was stated in Josh 1:1-9. "Now after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD it came to pass, that the LORD spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' minister, saying, Moses My servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, you, and all this people, to the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel. Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given to you, as I said to Moses." (Prosperity is a byproduct of seeking first the kingdom and His righteousness). "From the wilderness and this Lebanon even to the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast. There shall not any man be able to stand before you all the days of your life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with you: I will not fail you, nor forsake you. Be strong and of a good courage for to this people shall you divide for an inheritance the land, which I swore to their fathers to give them. Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law, which Moses My servant commanded you: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper where ever you go." At the most important hour of Joshua's ministry, at the most important hour of God's redemptive plan up to that point, He told His man to meditate in the Word and see yourself doing what it says. He could have told him any number of other things to prepare. "This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth; but you shall meditate in it day and night, so that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it: for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shalt have good success. (Notice it says "you" shall make "your" way prosperous, not God doing it. God honors our actions as they are in line with His will). "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be dismayed: for the LORD your God is with you where ever you go". He has said the same things to us: He said He'd never leave us or forsake us even to the end of the earth (Heb 13:5); He said I have come that we may have life and have it more abundantly (John 10:10); He said meditate in the Word (1Tim 4:15); He said be strong and courageous (1Cor 16:13). "Yeah, but that was the Old Covenant". Read Colossians that says He wants us to be fruitful in every good work (1:10), not win a few, loose a few. Everything our hand touches ought to bear fruit. We have the Holy Ghost IN us, Joshua didn't. Meditation on the Word will give us the information on how to act on the covenant. This is the key: he that loves me will keep my Word (John 14:15); and I will manifest myself to him. He will live with us (John 14:21).
