Title: Finances 31

Finances 31
Talk the Word: don't let it leave your mouth. David and Solomon
did this: "I WILL SAY of the Lord He is my fortress my God in Him will I
trust" (Ps 91:2). Even talk to yourself: "Bless the LORD, O my soul: and
all that is within me, bless His holy name" - David is telling his soul
to say this. Sometimes we have to give ourselves a pep talk. Paul even "boxed"
at his body to keep it in line (1Cor 9:27).
Meditate in the Word day and night (1Tim 4:15, Josh 1:8). If you do this
then you will be able to see yourself doing it, to see how to do what is
written. Many Christians don't know how to walk the walk because they don't
practice the art of meditation of the Word. Instead they meditate on the
problem, watch TV, read the newspaper, etc. These things give us a inner
picture of disaster. Can we honestly think there's a problem that God can't
deal with? "I need a thousand dollars by the end of the month Lord, but
I just don't see how You're going to do it" - that's why we don't receive,
because we can't see it. We're looking through our natural eyes instead
of our spiritual eyes (Eph 1:18). We must look through the eyes of faith.
All our problems rolled up into one wouldn't tax God's ability or faith
one iota. True humility is rolling all our cares over on God (1Pet 5:5-7).
This is the most responsible thing to do because we know we are not capable
of handling them without God in the spirit. If we do it in the flesh, or
under our own abilities, we'll reap corruption (Gal 6:8). It's more responsible
to let those who are more capable of doing something handle it, then try
to do it on our own, e.g., trying to cure your son with home remedies instead
of letting the doctor do it. They arrest people for that sort of thing.
What is faith like? I'm going to give a Star Trek example. In one of the
original TV series episodes, Mr. Spock, a half human half Vulcan, had the
ability to block out fear and emotion. He was also capable of a "mind meld"
where he could temporarily confer this ability on others. Well, in this
one episode he and the rest of the landing party were on this planet that
was affecting everyone's mind into a dangerous illusion. Once they figured
this out, Spock was able to overcome the illusion but the others were not.
So he did his mind meld thing and the rest then enjoyed the same ability.
Thus, this "renewed mind" helped them out of their situation. The analogy
to this is that the Truth of the Word, when "implanted" in our minds, confers
the power of God on our situation. This is faith. It comes by hearing, and
hearing, and hearing.... the Word (Rom 10:17). It allows us to overcome
the natural situation by supernatural means. It alters our way of thinking
to think like God thinks.
P.S. Mr. Spock is not God.
