Finances 7
How do you prepare the human heart to do its work? Deut 29:9
says, "Keep therefore the Words of this covenant, and do them, that you
may prosper in all that you do". "Well, I know people who kept the commandments
all their lives and didn't prosper". No you don't. You just thought they
kept the commandments. How about the commandments to give, did they do those?
There are over six hundred commandments in the OT. If you haven't walked
in love in any of these, you haven't done anything (I Cor 13:1-4). There
are commandments that have to do with prospering. God commands that we prosper:
every joint is to supply something to the rest of the body (Eph 4:16). One
of the reasons the Body of Christ is in such poor shape is because you and
I aren't supplying to others what God has gifted us with.
Josh 1:5-9 "There shall not any man be able to stand before you all the
days of your life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with you (Joshua):
I will not fail you, nor forsake you. (6) Be strong and of a good courage:
for to this people shall you divide for an inheritance the land, which I
swore to their fathers to give them. (7) Only be strong and very courageous,
that you may observe to do according to all the law, which Moses My servant
commanded you: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that you
may prosper wherever you go. (8) This book of the law shall not depart out
of your mouth; but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may
observe to do according to all that is written in it: for then you shall
make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success.(9) Have
I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; be not afraid, neither
let yourself be dismayed: for the LORD your God is with you wherever you
go". "That's all Old Testament stuff. That doesn't apply to me". The grace
of the New Testament enables us to keep the Law, not to do away with it.
It's still a sin to murder isn't it? That's Old Testament. If we're in Christ,
we're entitled to the promises of Abraham (Gal 3:29). That's also Old Testament.
The only things of the Old Testament that no longer apply to us are the
sacrifices: Jesus was the final Sacrifice.
Meditate in the Word: that prepares the land (your heart, your situation).
It causes you to be able to hear from God. Remind yourself of these promises.
Write them down. Speak them everyday at the beginning and end of everyday.
Speak them in the situation that you are in. When we speak, faith is released
(2Cor 4:13) and they become somehow cemented in our hearts (Philemon 6).
Determine to have your needs met, that of your church, and the ministries
you are supporting. Have a specific idea of what you want. Don't just let
a scatter shot out there and hope some of it sticks. Jesus asked blind Bartemaus,
what do you want me to do for you? Make a list of what you want. Write it
down (Hab 2:1-3).
