Title: Psalm 23.6
by Dennis Reschke

Psalm 23.6
Ps 23:6 "Surely goodness and love shall follow me all the days
of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever." As God
is our shepherd, leading us to green pastures of the Word and His Spirit
to build up ourselves, this enables us to walk through the valleys of death
without even the smell of smoke on our clothes. God's ultimate desire for
us is stated in Eph 2:7 "That in the ages to come He might show the exceeding
riches of His grace in His kindness toward us through Christ Jesus." God
is love, and love wants to give, never take or possess. David put is this
way: Ps. 27:4 "One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after;
that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold
the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in His temple." As we seek first
the kingdom (Matt 6:33), all the other stuff will be added. If you don't
know what the will of the Lord is for your life, one thing we can do for
sure: the first commandment: Matt. 22:3,387 "Jesus said to him, You shall
love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and
with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment." If you are
floundering, worship God with everything you got. I recently heard it said
that worship is like anesthetic, so that when God does spiritual surgery
on us during worship time, it won't hurt.
Deut 28:1-14 talks about the manifold blessings of the Abrahamic covenant
that is our also through Christ Jesus (Gal 3:29). In verse two it says,
"And all these blessings shall come on you, and overtake you, if you shall
hearken to the voice of the LORD your God". God's intent is to heap up blessings
on us to the point of overflowing and even overtaking us. We don't even
ask for stuff that's given. The prerequisite is to do what He says. The
Word is full of directives, all of which boil down to love. Notice Deut
28:2 says "the voice of the Lord": God is speaking to us. It's not a matter
of "if". John John 10:27 say, "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them,
and they follow Me". The main way God speaks is through His Word. When a
passage "jumps off the page", that's called rhema. This IS God speaking
to you directly. There's no difference from that then if He were to personally
come to you in the flesh and speak it to you face to face. We must act on
those rhema words lest we be judged: Matt. 12:36 "But I say to you, That
every idle word (rhema) that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof
in the day of judgment." Rhema words are not given by God to be idle, or
without use. They are intended to give life and to be given to others to
bless them. I encourage you to give away your revelations to others. In
so doing your faith becomes more firm: Phlm. 6 "That the communication of
your faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing
which is in you in Christ Jesus." It also ensures you will receive more:
Luke 6:38 "Give, and it shall be given to you; good measure, pressed down,
and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For
with the same measure that you use it shall be measured back to you."
