Diane SampleMusic for the Master Title:  They Sent Him Away
 by Diane Sample

They Sent Him Away

A man possessed by demons
Lived among the tombs.
Tormented by them daily;
Death around him loomed.

He saw Jesus from a distance;
Ran, fell upon his knees
Cried," Deliver me, O Son of God,
Will you help me, please?"

Jesus said,"Come out of him
Foul spirits, and unclean."
He sent them to a herd of swine
To drown them in the sea.

The keepers of the herd
Went to town to tell this tale,
And those who came back found the man
Freed as though from jail.

Instead of paying homage
To the One who set him free,
The people of that little town
Began to beg and plead.

"Please leave out town", they begged Him
"We can't abide your way."
They feared the awesome power
That cast demons out that day.

Instead of them rejoicing
They were sore afraid.
So they asked the Lord to leave them;
Sad the choice they made that day.

Oh Jesus may we never,
When we do not understand,
Quench the Holy Spirit's working
Or refuse Your Holy Hand.

We are a people who often throw the good out with the bad. We come across something we do not understand and often will dismiss it as foolish instead of testing it against the Word of God. How many blessings have we missed because we didn't understand. Lord, help us to line everything up with Your Word and leave the rest to You. Let us not be swept away by every wind of doctrine but let us "test the spirits whether they are of God" 1 John 4:1

Amen Love Diane
