Title: Raising the Standard (Part One)

STANDARD BEARERS
Standard bearers are those who are called to summon the Army of God to
attention, to battle, and to know for whom they fight. They make a declaration
to the saints that they have only to go in and take the land that is theirs
because it has been purchased and belongs to them by the blood that has
been shed to give it to them.
Their weapon is a piece of cloth, raised in declaration and in exaltation
to the One who has given His life for it. The flags wave in the colors of
royalty, honor and majesty.
Both in Webster's dictionary and in Zondervan's Pictorial Bible Dictionary,
the word for standard, flag, and banner are synonymous.
Upon further research, we find that there are three distinct meanings
in the Hebrew where we find the references to the word "banner or standard".
In Strong's concordance, #5251, the words mean " signal."
In #5264, word means " gleam from afar, to be conspicuous as a signal; as
a flag fluttering in the wind, and to raise as a beacon (or standard)
Why do we have flags? We display them in our church and scarcely even notice
them. We have only begun to use them in our worship, but do we truly understand?
Let us read in Isaiah 59:19 " So shall they fear the name of the Lord
from the west and His glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy comes
in like a flood , the Spirit of the Lord shall raise up a Standard against
him." Strong's #5127 says the word used here means "to chase, deliver,
make flee way, to put to flight and to hide."
So we begin to see the
importance the raising of a standard.
As we explore further,we will understand
even greater dimension.
Blessing and peace be yours today.
