Turn His Heart Towards Home
In tender days of dew-kissed youth when life is light and sweet,
You walk life’s carefree winding path with such impatient feet.
Your cup of life is rich and full with promises so bright,
It’s hard to notice if some pathway turns you toward the night.
A mother’s prayer so many times is whispered soft and low,
“God keep my son and guide his steps in ways that he should go.
If his ways are less than pure, his heart should chance to roam,
Then purify his very soul and turn his heart towards home.”
So many nights this prayer is said, so many times repeated,
A praying mother’s constant cry will never go unheeded.
“And if he drinks too deep from life, don’t leave him all alone,
Satisfy his youthful thirst and turn his heart towards home.
Yes, turn his heart towards home, Oh Lord,
Just turn his heart towards home.”
