DevotionalTitle: Waiting and Willing by David George Waiting and WillingIf you are a writer, you can have nightmares about being before a judge and hearing him say, “you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say will be misquoted and used against you.” Isn’t that the sad truth?Maybe you bear some scars because of someone lying about you or misquoting you. It hurts, doesn’t it? Have you ever realized that you can divide the word “healthy” into “heal thy”? Heal thy what? Heal your broken or injured spirit, your wounded psyche, you broken relationship, your health -- all sorts of things that you and God can deal with together. Perhaps you need Psalm 6:2 (niv) for your situation, “Be merciful to me, Lord, for I am faint. O Lord, heal me, for my bones are in agony.” It could be that you are dealing with a particular sin and need Psalm 41:4 “I said, ‘O Lord, have mercy on me; heal me, for I have sinned against you’.” Maybe you have been drifting from God and need to hear him say as in Jer. 3:22, “Return, faithless people; I will cure you of backsliding.” Whatever the situation, God is waiting and willing to help. Don’t hesitate to call. It will make your day -- in the best possible sense.
In 1997 I had a stroke that crippled my left side. Upon release from therapy I started a ministry of daily e-mail devotions called E-Cheer to encourage others. I am a layman, having spent my career as service manager for the Allen Organ Co. |
