Title: Positive Action

Positive Action

A fine is a tax for doing wrong. A tax is a fine for doing well.

When I was very young, my older brother scratched the backing off of a mirror, then turned it around, and to his shock, it no longer worked as a mirror. His comment was, “I wish I could learn to keep my hands off of things.” The damage was done and irreversible.

We are like that in life. We can be forgiven for our mistakes, but often the damage has been permanently done. They say, “forgive and forget,” but I think only God can do that. We forgive but can’t forget.

In 2 Cor. 3:18 we read (nlt), “And all of us have had the veil removed so that we can be mirrors that brightly reflect the glory of the Lord.

And as the Spirit of the Lord works within us, we become more and more like Him and reflect His glory even more.” That’s where the rubber hits the road, when the mirror of our life is clean and properly reflecting the love of Christ to those around us.

It doesn’t matter how high we raise our hands on Sunday morning. If we don’t bring them down on Monday to help distrubute the grace of God to others, of what value is our celebration? Christianity is a belief system, but that belief needs to convert into positive action.

In 1997 I had a stroke that crippled my left side. Upon release from therapy I started a ministry of daily e-mail devotions called E-Cheer to encourage others. I am a layman, having spent my career as service manager for the Allen Organ Co.
