Title: Begin Again

Begin Again

At a seminary cafeteria, a sign by a basket of apples said, “Take only one apple -- God is watching you.” At the other end of the table, a plate of chocolate chip cookies had this hastily scribbled sign, “Take as many as you want -- God is back there watching the apples.”

You’ll remember that I had my computer stripped and totally reloaded with Windows. It was like starting with a new computer. Fortunately, I had a CD burner that made it easy to save the things I really wanted to save. However, I was amazed at how much “stuff” I had collected that I really didn’t need, and getting rid of all that baggage made a big difference in the computer’s operation. It boots up a lot faster. Pastors, you’ll recognize an object lesson in there somewhere.

As a child, I learned Psalm 51:10 and have never forgotten it: (nlt) “Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me.” The Psalmist, David, learned the secret of joy and contentment that comes from getting rid of the baggage in our lives and having Godly renewal. Sometimes we need to get spiritually stripped and reloaded to get back up to speed in the Christian walk.

How is your bootup? Is it, “O God, is it morning again?” or is it, “Thank you God for another new morning.” You can begin again!
