Devotionalby David George You are not really successful until someone claims they sat next to you in school. I guess I didn’t “make it.” I had the privilege of going to a one room country school -- fabulous experience. We had to share a double desk, but I can’t remember who shared it with me, so I guess he didn’t “make it” either. Country school had a big advantage. By the time you got to eigth grade, you couldn’t help but know the lessons -- you had already heard it for seven years. Church is like that -- if you attend regularly (hint). The more you hear the Word, the more it should soak in. Blotters just soak it up, but sponges need to be squeezed to be effective. Let’s be sponges of the Word -- not blotters. Let your faith drip on someone else. In Psalm 42:1 & 2 (niv) it says, “As a deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?” Good question -- when can we meet with God? Answer -- anytime, but a good place is at church. Have a great day.
In 1997 I had a stroke that crippled my left side. Upon release from therapy I started a ministry of daily e-mail devotions called E-Cheer to encourage others. I am a layman, having spent my career as service manager for the Allen Organ Co. |
