Devotionalby David George Why does a cat purr? It’s like why does a Humming Bird hum? It’s because they don’t know the words. Cats -- love ‘em or hate ‘em. There seems to be no middle ground. We have a cat that makes me feel that God created cats because He knew we would need love and companionship. There is something about the look on a cat’s face that tells you that scratching his head is good for both you and the cat. Singing to a pig does nothing for you, and it irritates the pig, but scratching a cat is good for the tranquility of the soul -- yours. We, as humans, crave companionship, but to have companionship with the very God who created us, is interaction to the max! In Rom 5:10 and 11(nlt) we read, “For since we are restored to friendship with God by the death of His Son while we were still His enemies, we will certainly be delivered from eternal punishment by His life. So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God -- all because of what our Lord Jesus Christ has done for us in making us friends of God.” Now that’s companionship, and I can’t say anything more to improve upon it.
In 1997 I had a stroke that crippled my left side. Upon release from therapy I started a ministry of daily e-mail devotions called E-Cheer to encourage others. I am a layman, having spent my career as service manager for the Allen Organ Co. |
