Give God a Chance

An e-mail from CA contained this fascinating (at least to me) comment:

“Bit of trivia .. my mother went to school Vancouver B.C. at David Lloyd George High School.” So, which came first -- the school or me? Small world! Actually, I was named after the famous English Prime Minister of World War I era. That’s as close to being famous as I’ll ever be, but it surely beats being infamous.

Is it possible that you get so “down” sometimes that you feel infamous?

I hope not. We all get the “grumblies” at times, but they shouldn’t last.

If they do, professional help may be necessary, but a good home remedy is to immerse yourself in God’s Word. Sounds too easy and trite? Try it -- start in the Psalms, but concentrate on your reading -- make it push your problems to one side. Reading out of a sense of duty will accomplish little. An absorption of what God is telling you is crucial to its benefit.

In Psalm 119 (niv) we read these words in verses 105 & 111, “Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path ... Your statutes are my heritage forever, they are the joy of my heart” -- did you get that -- the JOY of my heart. Sometimes it seems like there is a long way between “down” and “joy”, but give God a chance! Have a joyful day.
