Devotionalby David George I hope you still have all your fingers. I have a feeling that fireworks are best left to the professionals. By the way, do you know the difference between face powder and gun powder? One goes on with a puff and the other goes off with a bang. Sometimes our faith is like a puff and at other times it is like a bang. Wouldn’t it be better if we could have a more consistent faith without all the peaks and valleys. I know people like that, and I would rather go to them for Christian help and advice than those who seem to be on a spiritual roller coaster. A smo-o-o-o-th faith would seem to be more desireable, and it probably comes with steady day-to-day walks with God instead of depending on emotional thrills at a service now and then. My mother had a smooth faith -- she always had that same smile of peace and serenity with God. Peace is an important Biblical subject -- it appears around 400 times. An example is: Psa. 4:8 (nlt), “I will lie down in peace and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe.” Comforting, isn’t it? Take the time to look up John 14:27.
PARTNER PROFILE In 1997 I had a stroke that crippled my left side. Upon release from therapy I started a ministry of daily e-mail devotions called E-Cheer to encourage others. I am a layman, having spent my career as service manager for the Allen Organ Co. |
