Devotionalby David George HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY Today, in America, we celebrate our achievement of independence from foreign dominance. It is an important day of remembrance for us. Our readers in other countries surely have special patriotic holidays that are important for them, as well. Christians have another independence that we celebrate. It is independence from dominance by satan. Does this mean that he will never “bug’ us. No -- it means that he can’t control us because we have a greater power within us -- the Holy Spirit of God. If you are American and a Christian, you have a double reason to be grateful today and always. Col. 1:11b & 12 (nlt) says, “...May you be filled with joy, always thanking the Father, who has enabled you to share the inheritance that belongs to God’s holy people, who live in the light.” We should never take either our national or spiritual freedom for granted -- each one is dependent on the other. Be forever grateful. Have a very safe Fourth.
PARTNER PROFILE In 1997 I had a stroke that crippled my left side. Upon release from therapy I started a ministry of daily e-mail devotions called E-Cheer to encourage others. I am a layman, having spent my career as service manager for the Allen Organ Co. |
