Title: Looking Forward

Looking Forward

Elephants can’t jump, but every other mammal can. Aren’t you just thrilled to have that astounding bit of scientific information?

I think I’m very fortunate to have lived through what I consider the golden age of America. When you consider the technological advances since my birth in 1827 (he-he), and then compare it against all the ages that came before, it boggles the mind.

When I was a kid, I built a crystal radio and felt like I was saying, “C’mon, Thom Edison, move over and make room for me.” Today our kids are winning science fairs with stuff that Buck Rogers never even dreamed about.

With all this technical advance, we seem to see a reverse trend in morality and basic education. Listen to the constant parade of young people on Judge Judy. They all say “me and her” instead of “she and I.”

They say “I seen” instead of “I saw.” It’s epidemic. Don’t schools teach common grammar anymore? Our granddaughter was just forced to take a course called an elective (how can it be an elective if they force you to take it?) in “Science Fiction.” Am I out of sync or what -- what does science fiction have to do with education that doesn’t even teach proper speech? I don’t need to tell you about morality -- look at the current crop of TV shows. We are technically superior but morally bankrupt.

All this tends to make the child of God yearn for the return of our Lord. We have super hi-speed communication, but our Lord’s call for His church will be with blinding speed -- “in a moment, in the blinking of an eye.” Between the time I send this and you receive it we could be on the way up. 1 Cor. 15:52 (nlt), “...not all of us will die, but we will all be transformed. It will happen in a moment, in the blinking of an eye...” Wow, I’ll have a new hip joint! To what are looking forward?
