Devotionalby David George Sign in an office: “After the tea break, staff should empty the teapot and stand upside down on the draining board.” I’d like to see that. As you read this, some of you are preparing to leave for work, but you really don’t want to. You aren’t happy at work and wish things could change. Today’s E-Cheer is unusual because it is not original -- it was sent by a reader. It may be just what someone needs: Psalm 23 (for the workplace) -- The Lord is my boss, and I shall not want. He gives me peace when chaos is all around me. He reminds me to pray before I speak in anger. He restores my sanity. He guides my decisions that I might honor Him in all I do, Even though I face absurd amounts of e-mail, system failures. copier jams, back-ordered supplies, unrealistic deadlines, staff shortages, budget cutbacks, red tape, downsizing, gossipping co-workers and whining customers. I won’t give up, for you are with me. Your presence, peace and power will see me through. You raise me up, even when the boss fails to promote me. You claim me as your own, even when the company threatens to let me go. Your loyalty and love are better than a bonus check. Your retirement plan beats any 401K, and when it’s said and done, I’ll be working for You a whole lot longer! Author unknow, but whoever you are -- thank you!
In 1997 I had a stroke that crippled my left side. Upon release from therapy I started a ministry of daily e-mail devotions called E-Cheer to encourage others. I am a layman, having spent my career as service manager for the Allen Organ Co. |
