Devotionalby David George I have a PA Dutch relative who always smiles when he sees lightning. He thinks they’re taking his picture. How do you smile when they take your picture -- slight smile, big grin, closed mouth smirk or serious face? Some folks do not like to get their picture taken. The Amish will not knowingly allow their picture to be taken, because the Bible says, ”Thou shalt not have any graven image.” That was written thousands of years before Mr. Kodak hit the scene. What does God see when he sees your picture -- “all have sinned” or “redeemed?” If He still sees you as a sinner, you can change from a grimace to a smile by giving your life over to God through faith in Jesus Christ. That’s what we mean by “redeemed.” Negatives are not pretty to see, but the printed positive picture is a delight. Let God print your negative into a positive life. The result is two-fold -- it prepares you for eternity, but it makes you a better person here and now. It’s a win-win situation. You all know Jn 3:16 by heart (nlt), “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so that everyone (put your name here) who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life,” -- starting the moment you believe. So, will you?
In 1997 I had a stroke that crippled my left side. Upon release from therapy I started a ministry of daily e-mail devotions called E-Cheer to encourage others. I am a layman, having spent my career as service manager for the Allen Organ Co. |
