Devotionalby David George Decisions are such an important part of everyday life. You’ll be OK if you just remember Yogi Berra’s great advice, “When you come to a fork in the road, take it.” Duh-h! Not far from our home there is a country stretch of road that has a 35 m.p.h. speed limit for no rational reason. Decisions that are made by people in authority need to be reasonable, rational and workable. If they are not, they only invite people to break the law. Your decision for Jesus Christ is reasonable, rational and workable. It not only is workable, it encourages you to live within the laws of God. God’s laws are reasonable and rational because they provide a better way of life for us. His laws are not designed to punish us but rather to promote a life style that improves the quality of our life. We read this in Deut. 32:3 & 4 (nlt), “I will proclaim the name of the Lord; how glorious is our God. He is the Rock; His work is perfect. Everything He does is just and fair. He is a faithful God who does no wrong; how just and upright He is.” Follwing that kind of God is reasonable, rational and workable. Question is -- will we follow?
PARTNER PROFILE In 1997 I had a stroke that crippled my left side. Upon release from therapy I started a ministry of daily e-mail devotions called E-Cheer to encourage others. I am a layman, having spent my career as service manager for the Allen Organ Co. |
