DevotionalTitle: I'm Rich by David George I'm RichA little boy saw a man play a trombone for the first time. As he watched the slide go out then in, he said to his Mom, “Is he swallowing that thing?”When you look at a panoramic view of Manhattan Island in NY and see the concentration of massive buildings, don’t you wonder why the weight of all those sky scrapers doesn’t cause the island to just sink into the water? When you realize that millions of gallons of crude oil are taken from the earth every day and then burned up, wouldn’t you think that the weight loss of all that oil would eventually lighten the weight of the earth and change our orbit? When you come to the conclusion that you are not perfect and perhaps a bit sinful, aren’t you overwhelmed that the God of creation would love you enough to allow his Son to die in your place? When we think about it, we need to be so grateful for all that we have in Christ. Rom. 11:33 (niv), “Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God. How unsearchable his judgments, and His paths beyond tracing out!” I’m rich. So are you.
In 1997 I had a stroke that crippled my left side. Upon release from therapy I started a ministry of daily e-mail devotions called E-Cheer to encourage others. I am a layman, having spent my career as service manager for the Allen Organ Co. |
