DevotionalTitle: I'm Rich by David George I'm RichIt is reported that Billy Sunday once told a non-beleiving rich man, "Look, you can't take it with you, and even if you could, it would just burn."I have no idea what it is like to be rich in this world's goods. Maybe you don't either. Just in case you are fortunate to have money that you you haven't even counted, as a Christian, you will want to use your wealth wisely to God's glory and be grateful to Him for it. Wealthy or not, listen to what Paul said to Timothy in his first letter, chapter 6, verse 17 (nlt): "Tell those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which will soon be gone. But their trust should be in the living God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment. (vs.18) Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in works and should give generously to those in need, always being ready to share with others whatever God has given them." Ouch -- that hits us all in our most sensitive spot -- our wallet. Whether we have much or little, let's be thankful to God for what we have and not grumble about what we think we don't have. In Him we are all rich.
In 1997 I had a stroke that crippled my left side. Upon release from therapy I started a ministry of daily e-mail devotions called E-Cheer to encourage others. I am a layman, having spent my career as service manager for the Allen Organ Co. |
