DevotionalTitle: Deep Sorrow by David George Deep SorrowAfter the horrendous events of yesterday, this is no time for humor but rather a time for reflection, dedication and prayer.Yesterday’s heinous attacks only emphasize the depth of sin in the human heart without Christ. Tragically, these extremists groups feel they are religious and doing these acts in the name of what they call God. Our God says, “Thou shalt not kill.” They obviously march to the beat of different drummer. Wouldn’t we like to give Jeremiah’s message (51:31) to the perpetrators: “ ‘See, I am against you, O arrogant one’, declares the Lord, the Lord Almighty, ‘for your day has come, the time for you to be punished.’ “ Let’s do the only thing we can -- pray that God’s Holy Spirit would penetrate the hardened hearts of these evil people and reveal His Son to them.
In 1997 I had a stroke that crippled my left side. Upon release from therapy I started a ministry of daily e-mail devotions called E-Cheer to encourage others. I am a layman, having spent my career as service manager for the Allen Organ Co. |
