Devotionalby David George Does it seem to you that square meals make round people? That certainly seems true in my native PA Dutch area. They do say that you should never trust a skinny cook! If these concepts are true, we should be concerned about a square scriptural meal each day lest we get a skinny faith. I hope you are a well fed Christian by a regular feeding on the Word at church, at home or even at work. If people can take a 5 minute smoke break, shouldn’t a Christian be allowed to take a five minute devotion break? Have several scripture snacks a day. Print out E-Cheer and take it with you -- you can even pass it on to others. II Timothy 3:16 & 17 (niv) are familiar verses: “All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” Surely, within those verses you can find a good reason why you should be feasting on God’s Word. Maybe you don’t need rebuking or correcting, but certainly we all can use training in righteousness. Psalm 18:30 (niv) says, “As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the Lord is flawless.” Flawless -- that’s good enough for me -- how about you? Have a super day!
In 1997 I had a stroke that crippled my left side. Upon release from therapy I started a ministry of daily e-mail devotions called E-Cheer to encourage others. I am a layman, having spent my career as service manager for the Allen Organ Co. |
