Devotionalby David George Did you grow up thinking your name was “Heyyou?” Are you happy with your name? Many people are not, and they wish their parents had given them a different first name. Wouldn’t it be nice if we were not given names at birth but could wait until we are old enough to choose our own name. What would you pick? Parents often pick cutesy names without giving thought to the fact that someday that baby will be an adult and have to live with that name. My middle initial should be R. for Redeemed. God knows my name and will never forget it. That’s comforting. The Bible is loaded with expressions concerning the name of God and His importance. Psalm 9:10 (nlt) says, “Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O Lord, have never abandoned anyone who searches for you.” Maybe you are searching for peace with God today. Romans 10:13 says “For anyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Make your call today -- right now.
PARTNER PROFILE In 1997 I had a stroke that crippled my left side. Upon release from therapy I started a ministry of daily e-mail devotions called E-Cheer to encourage others. I am a layman, having spent my career as service manager for the Allen Organ Co. |
