Devotionalby David George Don’t ever give up. Moses was once a basket case! What is your faith in Christ doing for you? Does it make you feel better? Does it help you fight your gloom? Does it give you a “high?” If your faith is all about “you,” then it isn’t working. Our faith in Christ should make us better people, but not just for our own well-being. It should make us a better person for “others,” as well. Our faith in Christ should be making some kind of positive impact on others. It doesn’t have to be dramatic -- it can be subtle, but other people should notice something about us that will make them want the same faith that emanates from us. If our faith merely gives us a warm fuzzy feeling without radiating that warmth to others, we need to take a fresh look at our faith in Christ. We need to learn from the example of Christ himself. His entire ministry was consumed with helping and serving others. His was selfless -- not selfish. In Matt. 20:28 (nlt), Jesus said, “For even I, the Son of man, came here not to be served but to serve others, and to give my life as a ransom for many.” There is our example. Will we follow?
PARTNER PROFILE In 1997 I had a stroke that crippled my left side. Upon release from therapy I started a ministry of daily e-mail devotions called E-Cheer to encourage others. I am a layman, having spent my career as service manager for the Allen Organ Co. |
