Devotionalby David George A husband confronted his wife about a receipt he found for a $250 dress. “Didn’t I tell you when you were tempted to do this to tell satan to get behind you.” She said, “I did, but he said it looked good from the back, too.” Do you believe in satan? He believes in you. That’s why he is after you all the time, or hadn’t you noticed. If you haven’t noticed, you may have drifted farther than you thought. If you are a dedicated Christian, satan will do his best to sidetrack you. He’ll stick in little wedges of doubt if you let him. We sing a great hymn -- Be Strong, Be Strong in the Lord. That’s the secret -- exercise your spiritual muscle to stay strong. Here’s some great advice from 1 Cor. 16:13, 14 (nlt), “Be on guard. Stand true to what believe. Be courageous. Be strong. And everything you do must be done in love.” Church once a week won’t “cut it” -- it takes daily exercise to be strong.
PARTNER PROFILE In 1997 I had a stroke that crippled my left side. Upon release from therapy I started a ministry of daily e-mail devotions called E-Cheer to encourage others. I am a layman, having spent my career as service manager for the Allen Organ Co. |
