 Devotional   by David George  Choices of words in newspaper headlines can sometimes be funny, like these headlines: “Typhoon rips through cemetery -- hundreds dead” or “Thousands found dead as graveyard is dug up.” When I go, the headlines will read: “Old musician dies -- smiling.” Yes, I’ll have my voice back, I’ll have both arms again to play a golden Marimba and my Lord will be my choir director. We all have our favorite fantasies of what we expect in Heaven. We just have to trust in God, beleiving it will all be beyond our wildest imaginations. In 1 Peter 1:3 (niv), Peter starts one of the world’s longest sentences with, “...In His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade -- kept in Heaven for you.” Verses 3, 4 anmd 5 are all one sentence (my H.S. English teacher would have been appalled), but I think Peter was just so excited that he didn’t know how to stop. We talked before about inheritance, but think of it -- never perish, spoil or fade. That even includes us. We should be excited, too. No more wrinkles -- whoopee!
