This site and the privilege of sharing the word on the net
is a major blessing to me especially when you consider that only a year
ago I had never used a pc. But I have been obedient to the Lord, and been
taught, and now have this blessing bestowed upon me . Thank you Lord.

God bless all of you.
As you will be able to guess from the above title,
the subject for this weeks study is the need for truthfulness in a Christian’s
life. At this stage you might be thinking, “Kev, this is Sunday school stuff,
everyone knows that lying is wrong, we don’t need to do a study on this
subject." Well there are several shocks awaiting you in this weeks study,
and one of them is that far too many ‘So Called Christians’ will lie if
their backs are to the wall. I have experienced ‘Born again, spirit filled
Christians’ lie or twist/distort things (which is lying). My brothers and
sisters, this should not be so! This week’s title “How come I can’t lie
anymore” can be viewed in two ways.
Firstly it can be viewed as if someone
is making a statement. As the result of the Lord working in their life a
person might get a kind of “Holy Ghost Jolt” every time they are tempted
to tell a lie and they know they just cant go through with it, so they tell
the truth instead. Great stuff! This statement would be a kind of praise
to the Lord, sort of a “Wow” look at the change in me, I used to lie my
way out of everything but “How come I cant lie anymore, its got to be the
Lord.”
The second viewpoint would be that of someone arguing in favor
of lying saying something along the lines of, “How come I can’t lie anymore,
surly it’s ok, after all, everyone does it don’t they.” Lets see what the
bible says.
Proverbs 12 v 22 “Lying lips are abomination to the Lord:
but they that deal truly are his delight.”
Proverbs 14 v 5 “A faithful
witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies.”
Proverbs 19
v 5 “A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies
shall not escape.”
Ephesians 4 v 29 “Let no corrupt communication proceed
out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it
may minister grace unto the hearers.”
The bible has a lot to say about
misuse of the tongue, but lying comes out worst, you see, the Lord has got
better things planned for you, you don’t need to lie, live in the light
instead.
Ephesians 6 v 14 “Stand therefore, having your loins girt about
with TRUTH, and having on the breastplate of righteousness.”
What this
verse means is that your whole life should be one of truthfulness, honesty,
loyalty, reliability, a life that points to the Lord of truth, the Lord
Jesus Christ. Don’t give in to temptation to take the easy option, and remember,
“A half truth is a Full lie” also remember that “God forgives sin, not excuses.”
Think about it!
The Lord demands total honesty in our lives and that includes our word,
but beware; it’s easy to let standards slip. I am preaching to myself also.
Matthew 5 v 37 “Simply let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes’ and your ‘No’ be ‘No’; anything
beyond this comes from the evil one.”
Also He demands honesty in all our
dealings.
Proverbs 11 v 1 “A false balance is an abomination to the Lord:
but a just weight is his delight.”
We all make mistakes, we all do things
wrong, and we all sin, but it is far better that we admit that we have been
wrong and even be punished for it rather than try to wriggle out of it and
add sin to sin. If you’ve done wrong get it sorted, after that the Devil
won’t have a hold on you. The Lord will honor truthfulness, in-fact it
has been my experience that when I have done wrong and confessed first to
the Lord, and then asked him to intervene into the situation, then those
whom I have wronged have shown me mercy and understanding. Truthfulness
is not an optional extra just for the ‘super spiritual ones’ it’s for all
of us. If you find it particularly easy to lie, or even difficult not to,
then confess this to the Lord and ask him to help. He will, and don’t be
afraid to discuss this with your pastor, that’s what they are there for, you
can also get pastoral help and advice right here at faithmania.com.
Well
that’s all for now, God bless all of you, see you soon. kev
