This site and the privilege of sharing the word on the net
is a major blessing to me especially when you consider that only a year
ago I had never used a pc. But I have been obedient to the Lord, and been
taught, and now have this blessing bestowed upon me . Thank you Lord.

God bless all of you.
This week I would like to introduce you to a dear
friend of mine, and a precious brother in the Lord, Mr Don Argent. Don is
an elder at the church at which I worship and he and his wife Mary have
been Christians for many years and a great encouragement both to my wife
and myself. I pray that you are blessed as you read what the Lord has lade
on Don’s heart to share with us this week.
Hello, my name is Don Argent, and I am a retired bookkeeper, and have been
married to my wife Mary for 40 years. Mary and I have known Jesus for a
lot of years “PRAISE HIM.” I thank God for the privilege he has granted,
allowing me to share the things of God with you. I also thank Kevin for
asking me to write in this way. Let us look at the scriptures.
Philippians
2 v 5-11 “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who,
being in the form of God thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But
made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant,
and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man,
he humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even the death of the
cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name
which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; and
that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory
of God the father.”
1 Corinthians 2 v 16 “We have the mind of Christ.”
Do we indeed have the mind of Christ; is the mind that was in Christ really
in you? Look at verse 6 “Christ who being in the form of God, thought it
not robbery to be equal with god” Is there one amongst us who could claim
such pre-eminence, such glory, such power or such authority? No not one.
Which one of us will freely give up “MY Man” given reputation, my rights,
my honour, my, my, my? Who will freely become a servant or a slave? Which
one of us is so Christ minded as to humble ourselves and become obedient
unto death, even the death of the cross? Not only was Jesus totally obedient,
humbly obedient, but joyfully obedient and lovingly obedient.
John 17
v 13 “And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that
they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves”
Note that it says, “That
they (the disciples) might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.”
Hebrews
12 v 2 “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for
the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame,
and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” In John 4 v 34
it shows the single mindedness of Jesus in pursuing the fulfilment of his
fathers will. His life from conception to resurrection was the ultimate
expression of his love for his father God. His joy was the total fulfilment
of his fathers will. “It is finished.” The father commands this same obedience
from each and every one of us.
Mark 12 v 29-30 And Jesus answered him,
the first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel (or the church in our
case); the Lord our God is one Lord: and thou shall love the Lord thy God
with All thy heart, and with All thy soul, and with All thy mind, and with
All thy strength: this is the First commandment.
God never asks anything
of us that is not possible.
Philippians 2 v 13 “For it is God which worketh
in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.”
There is an enabling
power in the person of God the Holy Spirit.
Paul the apostil said in Philippians
3 v 10 “that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship
of his suffering, being made conformable unto his death.”
I believe that
all of us Christians should make this our prayer. The Holy Spirit will enable
all who receive him.
Acts 1 v 8 “But you shall receive power after that
the Holy Ghost is come upon you.”
Now look at the result of this, making
himself of no reputation, this extreme humbling, his obedience unto death.
Philippians 2 v 9-11 “wherefore God also highly exalted him, and gave him
a name which is above every name. That at the mane of Jesus every knee should
bow, of things in heaven and things in earth, and things under the earth.
And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory
of God the father.” So, let the mind that was in Christ Jesus be in you
also. Let the Holy Spirit so glorify Jesus in you, (John 16 v 4) all to
the glory of God the father. All praise be to God. May he bless you in the
fullness of his grace.
Love in Jesus name, Don Argent
Thank you Don for that word. Can I ask all you readers to pray for Don,
his family and his ministry. Don has had serious health problems for most
of his life and is often in great pain, sometimes for days at a time but
he does not let this distract him from his love for the Lord and the Lost.
He practices what he preaches.
God bless all
of you, kev.
